Looney Lines
Give two loonies a bar, canvases and paint... Dima and Liv met through each other's work back in 2017, although not straight away, their paths crossed eventually again in 2022, when they decided to collaborate creatively and exchange ways of approaching graphic work. In the context of a multicultural city like Berlin, language tends to get lost and other communication forms emerge from the need to connect or find some truth in our intuitions. And in this case, also find outlet for the craziness of life as a migrant in Germany. Although coming from distant countries, their graphic language has made communion through juxtaposed lines that give birth to vivid characters and translate universal pains and pleasures. As a result, their work becomes an opposition to the excess of justifications that very often flood their surroundings. Looney lines resume the power of cute, the occasion of color and animals in human condition through a rudimentary take on expressionism and cheeky comic style narratives. This is their first exhibition together including a series of limited-edition prints, colour and monochrome originals, analogue photography, sketches and ink illustrations.
